Apple also announced the Mac Studio is a powerful new desktop computer that is designed for professionals and creatives. It is powered by the new M2 Ultra chip, the fastest chip that Apple has ever made.
From a developer standpoint —
- RealityKit 3: RealityKit 3 is a new augmented reality development kit that makes it easier to create AR experiences for Apple devices including the Vision Pro. It includes new features such as a new scene graph, a new physics engine, and a new rendering engine.
- Metal 3: Metal 3 is a new graphics API that makes it easier to create high-performance graphics for Apple devices. It includes new features such as support for ray tracing, variable rate shading, and mesh shaders.
- SwiftUI 3: SwiftUI 3 is a new version of the declarative UI framework that makes it easier to create beautiful and interactive user interfaces for Apple devices. It includes new features such as support for custom layouts, new modifiers, and new animations.
- Combine 3: Combine 3 is a new version of the reactive programming framework that makes it easier to create asynchronous code for Apple devices. It includes new features such as support for error handling, new operators, and new schedulers
More about the Vision Pro
The Vision Pro will cost $3,499. It will be available starting in early 2024 in the U.S. (with other countries later in the year).
