New Intelligent Tiering features for

Data Transfer

A new data transfer mechanism has been introduced. AWS SnowCone is a small device that can fit in a backpack that can be used if one does not have great network connectivity.

Storage Management

Over the years , cost analysis, inventory and object tags have been launched . The new feature launched this year is Amazon S3 Storage Lens.

S3 Storage Lens will give organization wide visibility for your S3 storage usage and activity metrics and recommendations with data retention up to 15 months.S3 Storage Lens is a new free default dashboard. The main use cases are metrics such as storage summary insights , trends and anomalies. Recommendations on how to optimize cost are also included.Storage Lens will have cool visualization charts where you can see storage metrics such as size, etc.

S3 Object Ownership Overwrite

Amazon S3 Bucket Keys — This feature will allow attaching a local key to a bucket, thus preventing remote calls.

S3 Replication

In addition to S3 SRR and CRR, new methods for replication are now supported.

Cross-Region replication (CRR) is used to copy objects across Amazon S3 buckets in different AWS Regions.

Same-Region replication (SRR) is used to copy objects across Amazon S3 buckets in the same AWS Region.

Two Way Replication is now supported.

Perhaps the most interesting new feature was strong read over write consistency for S3 which is being introduced.
